The end of another keg is an accomplishment to be celebrated & also a sad time!
It's a time to reflect on a job well done and appreciate the time, energy and craft that have been applied to the creation of something magical, the end of one beer BUT the beginning of another, an inner glow of self satisfaction and the outward appearance of slurring, loudness, stumbling and excess urination!
* however don't get caught at the end of one keg that you have either NO keg or an inferior beer to continue up the Khyber without a pass!
'So this is what it feels like when doves cry'!

Wish you were her?
No, really, if you just tasted what we just tasted you would wish you were here (her)!
Although the Fat Yak has been ONLY in the keg for 2 days the conditioning/maturation has resulted in what is arguably our BEST beer!!!
The (Fat Yak#2) grapefruit notes and CRISP refreshing taste, carbonation, head colour and retention 'best served' COLD on hot days after mowing the lawn, weeding the garden, swimming in the pool... or walking out the back.
We thought that our Nelson (Fat Yak#1) would be the 'chosen one' however the Galaxy has our vote at this point in time and space. The Fat Yak#1 is still a FANTASTIC beer, an Australian Christmas Beer!
*Photos to come soon of me drinking the Fattest Yakkest.

I WISH my NOSE was BIGGER!
WOW, how to Blog the notes of these two beers?
Fat Yak #1- Nelson by any other name would smell as sweet! Sweet! This is a drink, and drink again beer! The nose is distinctly Nelson Sauvin (Passionfruit) BUT even better...
Fat Yak #2- Galaxy has a much more bitter, definite grapefruit nose from the Galaxy hops. Same, same but very different. So different that due the keg size 19l and total beer production of 63l then it's the perfect opportunity to balance a third keg with Fat Yak #1 & Fat Yak#2 to create a beer that has notes of Passionfruit & Grapefruit! YES!
... and where did that fruit get its name?
It's Christmas so we have included a real time photo of the Three Wise Yaks!

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away"
It's time to hop into hopping. Hopping for a GREAT Summer!
"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away"
The first Yak (Brew 34) gets a well deserved feed, a dry feed of 'The Full Nelson' Sauvin 40gm (Passionfruit notes/taste)
AND
Yak at the back (Brew 35) gets attacked with 40gm of Galaxy (Grapefruit notes/taste)

Perk, Perk! Our Fat Yak is still ALIVE!
Sunday (9/12/12) was a fine day but we anticipated a week of Summer, which we got so we are fermenting in the CAVE! A stable, cooler temp environment to enable the yeasties to do their thing! The thing they do so well!
It's now Friday and they (fermenting Fat Yak) continue to perk, perk, perk!!
Now this is living!

Kegerator- computer circuit board issues resolved
Apparently some moisture got into the PCB. The kegerator has an alarm & display code to alert you to it's difficulty. We disassembled the unit: cleaned, dried, cleaned some more, tested OK, reassembled and we are back drink'n. NO beer was harmed in the episode!
